Description
The Booby Cushion is created to provide comfort to ladies who have recently undergone a mastectomy.
After this surgery the area of most discomfort is underneath the arm-pit, so these cushions are designed and made to fit perfectly under the arm to ease this discomfort.
They can be used in bed to ensure ladies sleep well throughout their recovery, used in the car to protect the affected chest area from seatbelt irritation, or used when out and about to avoid being hurt from people’s elbows and bags. The use of the cushion can also be extended to help after radiotherapy treatment when skin around the area where the breast has been removed and under the arm can be very tender. Clients continue to use their cushions long after their surgery to help with sleep.
In addition to the physical benefits of the cushion, there is also a message of emotional support to ladies when they are going through a very frightening time in their life. The heart shape emphasises the message that this gift is given with love and symbolises that they are not alone as they continue their journey to beat breast cancer. The cushion is often gifted by a family member/friend wanting to help a loved one, whilst feeling helpless at a difficult time for all.
